Ladies’ Golf at Disley Golf Club
At Disley Golf Club (DGC), we have a very welcoming and active Ladies’ Section where women of all ages, abilities, and experience levels enjoy golf together. The friendly atmosphere and relaxed dress code ensure your time both on and off the course is always enjoyable.
Ladies taking up Gold Membership can enjoy golf Sunday - Friday, playing in our midweek competitions on Wednesdays or Thursdays, while those opting for Platinum Membership have access to the course 7 days a week and all club competitions throughout the week and weekends.
Lady Captain
This year’s Lady Captain is Linda McCay, who is delighted to represent our Ladies’ Section. Each year, the Lady Captain selects a local charity to support, and in 2025 the chosen charity is Kinder Mountain Rescue.
New Lady Members
At Disley Golf Club, we’re proud of our Golf Pathway for New Lady Golfers — designed to offer a relaxed, supportive, and enjoyable introduction to golf.
The Golf Pathway includes:
Taster Sessions
Beginners Academy
Buddy System
Fun Competitions
Achieving a Handicap
Major Competitions
Team Matches
Taster Sessions
New or beginner lady golfers are warmly invited to try golf at one of our Taster Sessions. All equipment is provided, and sessions are relaxed, friendly, and flexible in timing. Our PGA Professionals will do their best to accommodate your schedule.
To arrange a session, please contact the Pro Shop and ask for Scott or Ian.
Beginners Academy
After attending a Taster Session, ladies can progress to our Beginners Academy — a series of weekly sessions covering all aspects of the game. The focus is on building confidence and helping players transition onto the golf course as soon as they feel ready.
The Buddy System
Starting a new sport and joining a new club can be daunting, so we offer a Buddy System where an experienced lady member helps guide you through your first steps. Your Buddy will:
Introduce you to other members
Partner you in friendly, social golf
Help you achieve your first handicap
Answer any questions about golf at DGC
Getting a Handicap
An official World Handicap Index (WHI) can be gained at DGC over 9 or 18 holes. You’ll need to submit three completed scorecards to achieve your first official handicap.
Ladies’ Team Matches
Our Lady Members also enjoy friendly and competitive inter-club matches against other local teams, including:
Plate Team
Handicap B Team
Friendly Matches vs. New Mills, Marple, Buxton & High Peak, Hazel Grove, Cheadle, and Romiley
The Archie Preston – a mixed team event run by the Manchester and District Golf Alliance
The Bell Cup – a team of seven single matches, run by the Manchester and District Golf Alliance
